Director & Chair
Geraldine was appointed Chair of the board following the transition from STS Inc to STS Ltd in August 2017 having joined the Management Committee of Suited to Success Inc in 2010 serving as Secretary, Vice President, Governance Subcommittee chair, and President from 2014 to 2017.
With some 40 years in executive roles in the pharmaceutical industry, Geraldine has not-for-profit leadership experience with Asthma Victoria, professional associations and federal and state government committees. She has wide ranging international management skills in strategic planning, financial analysis, leadership development, change management & stakeholder engagement.
Director & Deputy Chair
Gordon joined the board in November 2018 and is the Deputy Chair with responsibilities for strategy. He is a certified Social and Emotional Intelligence coach and is principal of his leadership development organisation EQ Ignite. Gordon’s aim is to support leaders to transform their leadership by developing greater personal capability, and in turn ignite the potential of others. Gordon enjoys challenging people to discover what’s possible for them beyond what they believe they are capable of.
Gordon has over 35 years of diversified business experience in national marketing management, strategic business planning and business development in the Travel and IT Industries. He is active in the community supporting those in need and was attracted to Suited to Success due to its role in supporting people to overcome barriers to employment.
Tim joined the board in March 2019 with responsibility for the finance portfolio bringing a wealth of some 20 years’ experience in banking overseas and in Australia, specifically in Treasury. He is currently Deputy Treasurer at CUA.
Tim’s experience in risk management, balance sheet management and funding in a mix of operational side and project-based roles are very relevant to the needs of Suited to Success.
Joining the board as director with responsibilities for strategic relationships in November 2018, Katherine has over 20 years’ leadership experience responsible for improving business profits & strategic partnerships while delivering exemplary customer service. Working collaboratively and successfully in talent management at all levels drives high performing teams and strong client relationships. Katherine is General Manager, Member Services & Communications for AMA Queensland.
Stephen joined the board in November 2018 and has responsibility for risk management. He has 30 years leadership experience spanning the private, public and not-for-profit sectors across a broad range of industries including health promotion, community services, education and vocational training. He has proven success in transformational leadership, growing businesses, improving organisation performance, advocacy, stakeholder relations and in delivering customer-centric services and programs to communities.
Currently the CEO of the National Heart Foundation Qld/NT, he has held C-Suite leadership roles for the past 18 years, and during this time has established best practice in corporate governance and high performance of Boards.
Penelope (Pene) Hodge
Chief Executive Officer
Pene joined Suited to Success as Programs & Relationships Manager in September 2018 and was appointed CEO from 15 April 2019. She has over 25 years of leadership, management and practitioner experience in the not for profit, charity, government and community sector. Pene was CEO of Muscular Dystrophy NSW for five years, having migrated with her family from New Zealand in 2010 where she had worked as the Managing Director of Care Waitakere. With an interest in not-for-profit governance she is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and sits on the Board of Story Dogs and was Manager of Volunteering Services Australia.
Retha Du Plessis
Human Relations (HR) portfolio and chairing the Nominations & Remuneration Committee. A highly experienced HR professional, Retha has wide-ranging experience in both operational and strategic people management. As a collaborative and supportive leader having worked in both commercial and not-for-profit organisations, she has demonstrated experience in setting strategic direction, change management and driving results. Her background has laid the foundations for connecting with Suited to Success to explore avenues to assist people in overcoming barriers to employment.
Natalie joined the board in July 2018 and has responsibility for governance, chairing the Governance Committee. She is a highly experienced lawyer and director of NR Barbi Solicitor Pty Ltd with over 20 years’ experience in the legal industry. She works primarily in commercial and civil litigation at all levels including Magistrates, District, Supreme and Appeal Courts. Her strategic, collaborative and dynamic management has led to consistent successful outcomes with staff, clients and colleagues. Natalie has extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector as a committee member of Qmusic since January 2016. Qmusic is Queensland’s music industry development association which fosters emerging talent and hosts the annual Queensland Music Awards and BIGSOUND.
Company Secretary & Public Officer
Aleksandra was appointed as Company Secretary and Public Officer of Suited to Success Ltd in March 2019. She is a lawyer at McCullough Robertson Lawyers in the commercial litigation division. She is a committee member of the Queensland Law Society, Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee and the Australian Restructuring Insolvency Turnaround Association (Young Professionals).
Aleksandra was the President of the Rotaract Club of Southport and until recently volunteered at the Caxton Legal Centre. Her experience in the legal sector and not-for-profit organisations has equipped her with strong leadership skills.
